Jorge Bianchi - Principal

Jorge was born an raised in San Sebastian (Basque Country, Spain), the city considered to be Europe's culinary epicenter. As a San Sebastian native, Jorge began soaking in at an early age his country’s powerful and thriving food culture, fostering his passion for the hospitality industry .

After graduating from university in 2001, Jorge held a senior sales position working for an electronic component distribution company and in a management consulting firm specialized in marketing. In 2007, he started his first food business venture DeTapas Fine Foods, sourcing artisan foods from throughout Spain. DeTapas was a beautiful private label line of retail ingredients to create authentic Basque tapas, geared to the export market. This venture took he and his family to the US.

Since then, Jorge has been involved in several foodservice related projects, specializing in working with companies in their goals to bring their products to the North American market. : In 2009, Jorge he joined Sammic, a  (Spanish manufacturer of food preparation, sous-vide and ware washing equipment;) with the mission of orchestrating starting up and management of their newly created US subsidiary.  At the end of 2013, Jorge became the General Manager of Clabo USA, an Italian company specializing in refrigerated display cases for the frozen desserts, pastry and deli, where he designed and implemented a new go-to-market strategy.  During this time, Jorge worked as a consultant, conceptualizing and bringing to life Donostia, now Pintxo Pote, a successful tapas & wine bar concept in the Silicon Valley.

In 2017,  On Egin was born from Jorge’s industry experience, marketing skills and passion for all things culinary. On Egin specializes in facilitating marketing and expansion strategies for companies within the hospitality industry and helping them to define and achieve their market goals in North America.

Jorge has a BA in Business Studies and Marketing by the University of Exeter (2001), a Diploma in Global Business and Management by UCSB (2002) and a Food Venture Lab Diploma by the Food Business School - Culinary Institute of America (2016).

Amy Warthen  - Chef & Customer Service 

After attending college Amy decided to pursue her passion for cooking and become a professional chef. She graduated from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco with a culinary degree, and prior to graduation, landed an opportunity to become the Pastry Chef at La Pastaia. During her tenure at La Pastaia, Amy expanded her culinary talents for baking, creating new and innovative recipes for her menus, and provided wedding cake decorating based on individual dream cake requests.  The desire to continually indulge her dedication to provide new and interesting dishes, was nurtured by the freedom, independence, and carte blanche that every chef hopes for.  Amy also procured every position within the restaurant at one time or another, providing a foundation for a complete understanding for the grit that is required of the hospitality industry. 

 25 fulfilling years later, Amy wanted new challenges and become a private chef. In that position, Amy infused her work with her passion for cooking by creating menus for families, athletes and couples celebrating special occasions. She treasures the meals she has shared with family, friends, and clients. The role of culinary contractor gave Amy the opportunity to cater, broaden her skills in different cuisines, coordinate events and lead cooking classes as an instructor.

 Amy’s enthusiastic entrepreneurial spirit led to the launch of an organic and sustainable, wedding and event coordinating company called Simply Organic Weddings in 2003.  With a thoughtful vision for planning celebration events, Amy provided clients with purposeful and responsible choices to accomplish their goals, while supporting local vendors in the Bay Area.  Her business implemented green business practices, and was approved as a Green Business in Santa Clara County.

 Utilizing all of her skills and experiences as a chef, and the desire to continue to grow and be challenged in the hospitality industry, Amy set forth with On Egin to provide support to an incredibly spirited team of entrepreneurs.

Sarah Shires - Brand Partnerships & Events

After many years behind the scenes, Sarah officially came on board full-time in June, 2021. Having spent many years in the educational setting as both a teacher and a vice principal, she brings her excellent communication and organizational skills to the table. Her dedication to the daily operations is what keeps the company moving forward!

Today, Sarah acts as a liaison between brand ambassadors here in the US and brand headquarters in Europe. She tracks ambassador performance for all our brands and is an integral part in the success of our brand ambassador marketing campaigns.

Sarah also is in charge of the organization and execution of industry-specific trade shows (The National Restaurant Association Show, NAFEM, etc.), brand-sponsored demonstrations and special events.
